THE BIKE FIT PROCESS

1.     We begin by having a chat about what problems, pains or injuries you currently have or may have experienced in the past, and also very importantly, what result you want to achieve from the bike fit.

2.     Then we carry out a mobility, flexibility and range of motion assessment.

3.     This is followed by a foot assessment and gait analysis.

4.     Your bike is mounted to a dedicated static trainer and a comprehensive bike analysis is then made including documenting all current key measurements. Indicators such as uneven saddle wear, crank arm or chain-stay rub and bar tape wear are also noted.

5.     Now you get on the bike and the foot / pedal interface is corrected as necessary. This includes laser alignment. If cleat shims or wedges or internal shoe angle wedges are needed, these are fitted. (included in the fee at no extra charge) The only extra fee is applied if orthotics, stems or new saddles are needed and supplied.

6.     Using video analysis an overall angle assessment is now made. I use video analysis cameras and tools as a bike fitting aid, but not for unquestionable final result determination. This is where experience is vital. No two people are the same so I use personal experience, along with in motion client feedback to determine what will work best for you.

7.     Saddle height and fore/aft adjustments are made. For overall comfort and bike handling efficiency it is crucial that this is adjusted before any front end changes are made. Too often I have seen riders, including current top professionals, pushed into positions where bike control and overall comfort is neglected.

8.     Handlebar reach and height is now adjusted. It is only possible to get this correct once the correct balance point has been attained with the saddle position.

9.     Brake lever adjustment for angle and reach is now adjusted. It is vital that brakes can be easily reached from both on top of the hoods and down on the drops. There are a variety of adjustments which can be made to facilitate this.

10.   Each stage of the process is analysed and changes assessed for positive or negative impact. When each contact point has been adjusted to the ideal position we now do an overall assessment of the resulting position.

11.   Any final adjustments are made.

12.   Once you are 100% satisfied, a final bike measurement analysis is made and within 24 hours you will receive  a comprehensive report along with any necessary recommendations.

Throughout the process we will also discuss any cycling issues you may have or any improvements that could be made. Bike handling, climbing and descending techniques, nutrition and bike maintenance are just a few topics on which I am always delighted to share my experience.

THE PRICE

The fee for a complete bike fit, Road, TT, Mountain
or Hybrid is €180. We can also fit 2 bikes on the same day for €270

I believe that your time is valuable but also understand that no two people are the same, so I do not limit the session to a certain number of minutes or hours. Each fit is performed in a very efficient manner, but I never want you to feel rushed.

I would always advise that you allow at least two hours of your valuable time. I only take two bookings each day so if we can get everything covered in 90 minutes that's fine, but if you need three or even four hours then that's fine too.
