Reviews and Feedback from some previous clients

Morning Barry

Hope you're keeping well.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you with feedback. I'm only back on the bike with about 5 weeks so just wanted to give it a bit of time to make sure all was ok.

Feeling great on the bike anyway, very comfortable. Find a big difference on the bottom of the pedal stroke. Huge difference as well in the positioning of the feet, can now feel the feet positioning a lot more balanced.

I purchased a pair of the Shimano wide fit shoes so they feel a lot better than the narrow fit as well.

Very happy with the Bike fit thanks very much, will definitely recommend to anyone looking to get one done.

Thanks again,

Karol.

Hi barry

Sorry for not updating you sooner. I have noticed a vast improvement since getting fitted on the bike last year.

The 3 main differences I found are (1) I feel a lot more comfortable while cycling, (2) I don't seem to as sore post cycle and (3) I seem to have more power when needed on the bike and also I seem have somewhat more energy left after long spins.

Thanks again

Best regards

Noel

Hi Barry,

Hope you’re keeping well.

Just thought I’d send on a quick update to you since the bike fit a few weeks ago.

I can’t believe the difference! At this stage I’ve adjusted to the new position and the aches and pains I mentioned before are gone and I feel way more comfortable and efficient on the bike.

As predicted, I had a few niggles initially alright as I adapted to the new position but it probably just goes to show how off my position was before the fit!

I also think between everything my climbing has improved and feels more efficient than before - counting 5 strokes/each leg going up the hills is working great and it takes my mind off the climb too! The G8 insoles have made a huge difference, I can’t be without them now.

The Ring of Kerry went well, I managed to convince myself to ease off a bit on your advice as I was still adjusting to the new position back then and it was a very enjoyable day.

All in all the bike fit was a fantastic investment and my only regret is not doing it sooner!

Thanks so much again for your help and expertise Barry. I’ll definitely make a return visit if I ever switch to a new bike in the future.

All the best,

Tina

Hi Barry,

Couple spins under the belt and no aches or pains whatsoever.

It's the strangest thing ever, bike feels completely different, like a whole new bike.

I realise now the strain I was putting on my legs and back being so bunched on the bike previously.

Going to do a steady 3 hour spin tomorrow and see how the wrist holds up.

Will keep you updated.

Thanks again Barry

Evening Barry

I've been meaning to sit down and reply to you over the last two weeks, better late than never.

My visit with you, was four weeks out from IM Cork. That weekend I did an easy 90k on the Saturday and the Monday, with a few short turbos during the week. I felt okay on these with a little stiffness through my lower back. The following weekend I did 145k, I was stiff through my lower back again, but I found if I stopped for a quick stretch I felt fine. The following weekend I had my final long spin before my taper fortnight. This was the weekend of the red weather warnings; I wasn't able to cycle until Saturday afternoon when the gusts eventually calmed down. As a result of the delay, I had to do a solo 150k which probably turned out to be my most productive spin of the whole training plan. I was able to give my full attention to my position on the bike and my nutrition. Again I was a little stiff through my lower back but I realised that the more I stayed out further on my hoods or down on my drops the more comfortable my lower back was.

Race day for me was about finishing it rather than racing it. I decided I would stop for a quick stretch every 45k, I stuck to that plan and I have to say it was the most comfortable I've ever been on my bike. My moving time was 6.58, lapsed time was 7.05, I had hope to do it in under 7.30. I scooted up Windmill Hill twice and jumped off the bike feeling fresh for my marathon. Unfortunately, the soles of my feet were very tender when I started running, after 8k I decided I would pop a Nurofen as they weren't improving. Once the Nurofen kicked in they never bothered me again. I finished in 12.28, I was over the moon. If the swim was full distance I would definitely be adding an hour on to my time. I was hoping for 14.30 so to finish 60 minutes under my expected time was unbelievable. I loved every minute of it.

My neck and bottom haven't given me one problem since my visit with you. I went out for an easy spin last Sunday, discomfort never entered my mind. That was probably the first time that has ever happened.

Thank you so much for sorting me out.

Kind regards

Pauline

Hi Barry,

I went out for my maiden voyage this evening for a short 30km. I started off following your advice but I have to say my knee felt really strong and stable so I pushed on a little. The bike felt great my position was comfortable and I felt light on the bike. I wanted to thank you for your input, the adjustments have really made a huge difference. It was like turning back the clock a couple of years.

Thanks again.

Hi Barry

Just to pass on my Thank you for the bike fits. On a 75 km ride this morning , feeling so different on the bike, loads of power through both legs , feeling great on the bike . On a much used train route that I used, with Strava reporting PR’s on those routes. Massive improvement over the past few weeks , remembering the square pedalling at the Wicklow 200.

Delighted with the work the outcome and the results and would highly recommend you to any colleagues needing a fit.

Brilliant outcome , thank you

Kind regards Michael

Hi Barry, how are you.

Just a note to tell how I've gotten on since we did the bike fit.

Without a shadow of doubt the difference in the bike is so much improved. The ride position Is much more comfortable than before. I feel I could do longer spins.

The bike handles better especially on descents and corning.

But I think the best improvement for me is the shoes. The adjustments you made to the shoes is something else. The power I'm putting through to the pedals has increased in my opinion 10 fold.

I'm not getting any niggles like I used to and so far no cramps.

My hip injury pain that I would get at a start of a cycle is no where as bad as it was in fact I feel a lot more relaxed than before.

Overall Barry I'm very pleased with the fit and adjustments you made.

I would have no hesitation recommending your service.

So I would just like to say a big thank you for your time and expertise.

And in the future when I purchase a new bike and shoes I will be sure to contact you.

Geoff

Well Barry thanks a million for the bike fit. I went out on the bike today after yesterday’s adjustments that you made and the difference is night and day. The wedges you put under the cleat to correct the imbalance has made the bike more comfortable while riding, but more importantly I have no pain or discomfort after the spin. Your knowledge has gone to a new level, thanks again. Kenny 👍

Hi Barry, I was with you for a bike fit on Nov 9th..I have been out on the bike a few times since..the set up on the bike is after making some difference..no lower stiffness in the back after a spin..thank you for your time and knowledge..I don't know myself on the bike..looking forward to getting out for more spins..thanks again. Martin.

A late starter to cycling I spent nearly 10 years riding a hand me down bike before I purchased a brand new bike in 2021. My first cpl of spins seemed fine, but it wasn't long before I started experiencing discomfort and knee pain. I booked an appointment with Barry in late '21. He quickly saw that I had issues with my feet, as my heel was rubbing the crank as I pedalled and had removed paint work and also that my knees were out nearly beyond the handle bars when I was pedalling. He first added extenders to my pedals on both sides and added a wedge between my shoes and cleats, when I got back on the bike again I immediately could feel and see the difference, my heel was now completely clear of the crank and my knees were far straighter as I pedalled. Barry than switched his focus to my saddle position and height, lifting it and moving it back slightly, he also adjusted my handlebars, tilting them up to relieve pressure on my lower body( I don't have a cyclist physique I'm afraid). I instantly saw a difference on the road when I was out cycling, my pedal strokes carried through better and I felt a lot more comfortable on the bike especially when climbing which was a big difference.
I didn't get out much in 2022 for personal reasons but started back early in 2023. I decided to go back to Barry again for a tune up and refit as I'd been off the bike for quite some time and had cycling plans set for this year that I want to be ready for. I was in with Barry at the start of February for a refit and some adjustments and have been going very well so far this year.
I would highly recommend a professional bike fit with Barry for anyone who enjoys their cycling, wants to take it to the next level or anyone who has purchased a new bike. Barry's attention to detail and thoroughness is also something I was quite impressed with, on both occasions Barry took his time to go through all aspects of my bike and my riding position. Barry has a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of cycling and was more than willing to give me advice on climbing and other aspects that I asked about, counting pedal strokes does work! I will be calculating a bike fit with Barry into my next bike purchase down the road, I think it's a must to be able to ensure you get value, comfort and enjoyment out of your bike.

Well Barry, Jack here.

Just wanted to give you a quick text to say thanks again for the bike fit.

The bike is like a different animal. No niggles or pain anywhere actually get off the bike now feeling looser and better than I did getting on it 😂

Thanks again.
